Please help them recover Lulu and reward will be offered!

Home Needed for Deaf Lab/Pit Mix in NY
From a FIDO Member
I've been involved with Animal Haven Shelter for over a year now. This former no-kill shelter has changed it's mission and policies to be a limited-intake adoption center with the possibility of humane euthanasia for many animals. What it boils down to is there are many innocent cats and dogs whose lives are now at risk- simply due to restructuring.
In particular, there's a dog named Krypto who needs to be placed as soon as possible. Krypto is a 3 year old Lab-Pit mix, and he is deaf. He's a very loyal companion, who's happy to show off sit and is really looking for someone to guide him. He gets along with other dogs, and anyone he meets, and he is also mostly housebroken. Because he is deaf, he will need someone who can learn to be his guide and help him when he gets scared. See his pix:
www.fidobrooklyn.org/rescue/
Additionally, there are over 100 cats and other dogs who are at risk and in need of a home.
If you or anyone you know might be able to help in placing these pets, please get in touch with me as soon as possible.

Ashes is 11 years old and is deaf. Neither slow him a bit. He is very active, follows hand signals and gets along very well with the other dogs in the exercise yard. The person who has had him can no longer support a large dog. Can you help Ashes live out several more years? If we don't get help very soon we will have to euthanize him since our kennel is constantly over crowded. Come see him and you will not regret the trip.

This poor gal has no rescue and no home! She is a purebred Australian Shepherd who is deaf (I am assuming bilaterally) and needs immediate rescue. Good with other dogs (obviously) and sweet natured, just scared in the kennel environment. Deaf dogs are wonderful (I have fostered three) and this girl deserves a chance. I wish I could take her, my heart is aching for this beauty.

Purebred Deaf Senior Cat in MA
Our rescue took in Cashmere, an older (at least 10 years) cat, from an abusive situation. He is a stunner - purebred close and curly Devon Rex coat, with blue points. He is also a character - talks loudly and constantly, and is in constant motion when he's awake. He adores people, other cats are fine, but not of great interest to this regal beauty. All of his senior bloodwork and urine are normal, and normal thyroid function. However, he pees a lot! He benefits from having several boxes available to him.
We are interested in getting him into a home that will be able to care for a currently healthy senior. A free will adoption fee is fine, to help cover the vetting for this boy.

Deaf Australian Shepherd Pup in CO
More About Fat Boy
http://www.petfinder.com/petnote/displaypet.cgi?petid=12673876&mtf=1
Hi,
I am desperately trying to help the Valley Humane League find an Aussie rescue who will be able to help this lovely little guy who is need. This little boy was born deaf on 11/06/08 and has been in foster since being owner surreneder to the Valley Humane League in early December. I am told he is a super friendly pup and has his sight in tact. The community around this shelter is poor and very rural. Dogs are generally kept outside on a chain and a deaf dog is not sought after and has a very dire future here.
Jenna is the manager of this shelter and is open to shipping this pup to an appropriate rescue, plus, as soon as tomorrow a transport is going to pick up others and will be returning to Colorado late in the evening. If anyone can help this beautiful boy, please contact me as or Jenna as soon as possible.Thank you for your consideration,

Photography Work to Benefit Deaf Dogs!
I'm travelling around the United States and Canada, visiting and photographing families with their deaf dogs. The end result will be a deaf-dog photo book, which will be for sale as a fundraiser for groups that educate the public about deaf dogs and/or specifically rescue deaf dogs. I will also be visiting and photographing rescues that work specifically with deaf dogs, as well as visiting city shelters to find out how they treat/deal with the deaf dogs who are surrendered to them. I hope this book will not only raise money for these groups, but also educate the public about deaf dogs, and even be an inspiration for people trying to overcome any obstacles in their lives.

Top Five Causes of 2009!
"Rescue programs or shelters caring for deaf animals: Having had two deaf dogs, I can't emphasize enough how crucial it is to rescue deaf animals, whether dogs, cats or others. Thousands of deaf animals are abandoned and killed each year simply because they're deaf – and this tugs at my heart in so many ways. Their experiences, and fate, are so similar to our experiences as a deaf community. Besides, who better to understand deaf pets than deaf people?
One such program is at Deaf Animal Row (deafanimalrow.blogspot.com). Contact your local shelter or rescue program and see if they have deaf animals needing homes or support. Then share what you can, whether it's a blanket, treats, money, or best of all, a home."
The other four listed can be found here at http://www.trudysuggs.com/Thank you, Trudy, for your support and it is much appreciated! Let's join her in the cause and care for our own deaf animals!
Dakota in Dog Fancy Magazine!
On another note, Kimberly is awaiting for a deaf/blind pup, Kelen, to get to her home to be fostered. With Kimberly's experience and how much she achieved with Dakota, Kelen will be in good hands. Kelen will be available for adoption in the NYC metro area. Contact Kimberly if you are interested.

Please send a letter by snail mail or email to the judge at the address given below. Please share with others to also take action and be this dog's voice. What Humphrey has to go through is appalling and heartbreaking. The suspect is only charged with a misdemeanor and hope that with enough noise, the charge will be upgraded or at least the penalty will be severe enough.

Pregnant Deaf Husky Mix in GA
I was at a local shelter on Saturday and came across this beautiful girl. She is pregnant due to whelp within probably the next week or so as she already has milk. We believe she is at least partially deaf if not completely. We tested her with different noises and got no reaction from her. She was adopted from the shelter and returned because the adopter said they couldn't train which also leads us to believe she is deaf. This is a breed that I am not familiar with but I took a real liking to her. She is very submissive with people and just rolls over for belly rubs. She is at the Fayette County Animal Shelter is Peachtree City, GA. Pull and transport help can be arranged. I am willing to help with her and so is a friend of mine who works at the shelter. The shelter is rescue friendly.

Foster Deaf White German Shepherd in AL Needed!
Hi Everybody,
Just update on Frosty. He started his heartworm treatments this past Monday and doing great. We’re still looking for a good foster home for him to see him through recovery.
If you can help, or know anyone that can give this boy lots of love and TLC, please don't hesitate to contact me. Phone: 205-591-5170 or work fallettak@vmcmail.com
Thanks All & Happy New Year..
Kelly
This is Frosty. He's a 3-4 year old, male, White German Sheppard Dog (with light gold pattern). Janie with the Birmingham Jefferson County Animal Control contacted all the rescue groups to save this sweet, lovable, goofy-boy. He's deaf but doesn't let that hold him back at all. Even startled, he shows no aggression, and just loves everybody. He's very friendly and playful and could use some leash and general obedience training, specialized for his handicap. He is heartworm positive. We'll start his heartworm treatments Monday after Christmas and we're seeking a foster home that can help get him through his recovery, and provide lots of love.
